Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Are you married to the mirrors on your home’s walls? While you may want to decorate your home with these reflection pieces throughout, there are some do’s and don’t’s when it comes to their placement.

Here are JCL Staging & Design’s tips on finding just the right balance to see the beautiful reflection of your home with just the right amount of mirrors with the optimal placements.

TIP 1: The Right to Lean

An alternative to hanging art or photos on your wall is a beautiful, big mirror. Instead of using hardware to attach it to the wall, you can simply lean it to create an ambiance and instantly make the room look bigger. This chic design choice will not only open up a wall, but it will add a simple brilliance and class to the room. Have fun with it. You can go with your standard mirror style or choose one with a decorative frame. The look is yours to truly reflect your decor personality.

TIP 2: Reflective Light

If your room is dim even during daylight hours, put a mirror to use by placing it where it will reflect light. It will automatically awaken those darker spaces to brighten any chamber. Strategically positioning the mirror helps to create a natural glow, and the soft hue can be inviting and relaxing. A mirror could turn that muted feel all the way up to full volume, and it could potentially become your favorite place to be.

TIP 3: No Window, No Problem

Ever had a room in your home that you wish had a window? Well, an easy fix is to add a decorative mirror to the wall that includes a window frame. There is no need to knock down any walls and the reflection gives the appearance of that outdoor glimpse you desire. Let your creative juices flow and by placing a plant where its reflection will give the feel of seeing greenery outside. By adding a floor or table lamp close by, the light will cascade off the mirror to add an extra special shine. Before you know it, you'll even forget there isn’t actually a window there.
