Less is More With Home Decor

You may love all those books you’ve racked up over the years, but is it really necessary to keep them all … in one place … on the same bookcase? And when your room screams, “Welcome to the jungle!” it may be time to spread the greenery throughout your home instead of having all those plants you love in one location. Sometimes, when it comes to home décor, less is more.

Here are JCL Staging & Design’s go-to tips on creating beautiful spaces with a chosen few epic pieces as opposed to your entire inventory.

TIP 1: A Signature Piece That Acts as Storage, Too!

It’s a win-win when it comes to furniture that is multi-functional. So, consider buying a beautiful coffee table that doubles with space for storage. This way, when you need those extra throw blankets or want to thumb through your favorite magazines, they will be hidden away from plain sight and keep a clean and modern aesthetic in your living space!

TIP 2: Stack Em for Literary Charm

For those literary lovers out there, it may be more useful to display the books you’re currently reading or those that touched a special place in your heart instead of all the novels and memoirs you’ve ever read. How about selecting three thought-provoking titles and stacking them on your end table. It not only provides easy access to the book you’re currently reading, but it can also add a conversation piece for when guests visit.

TIP 3: Shelf Chic for Lovely Snapshots and Trinkets

Instead of splashing photos across your entire wall or placing trinkets throughout your abode, how about finding a nice shelving to house a more simplistic take on those snapshots and timeless décor pieces? You can use two shelves or a bookcase to place a few of those items you really like to focus on each day and make them the focal point of your wall without overcrowding.

TIP 4: Greenhouse Simple

Yes, plants are a must-have in any home, but they do not have to be located all in one place. Spread them out so that each green or flowery friend has breathing room and can bring life to your space without feeling like you’re navigating an interior forest.

Adding plants to your home can bring in many colors and textures that can be played off of in your design. Plants come in many different types, sizes and allow so much versatility in how they can be incorporated into the home.

In addition, plants can be good for our health.  According to EcoWatch, an environmental news website, plants help to improve our mental health, gives our immune system a boost, improves our productivity, relationships, learning abilities, and air quality, and adds more humidity to our home.
